PORTALS OF REMEMBRANCE
in progress
The inspiration for The Portals of Remembrance came from an out-of-body experience I had years ago, which profoundly shifted my perspective on things. The series is a three-part journey that merges past, present, and future into a unified experience exploring the ever-present theme of love in all its forms - the yearning for it, the struggle to maintain it, the blessing of self-love and the emptiness of its absence - is a thread woven throughout our lives.
While past, present, and future may seem like distinct entities on a timeline, the overarching themes of love, oneness, identity, healing and venturing into the unknown bind them together bringing to the same family of consciousness. Homecoming.
Using silk as a medium to create lightbox paintings that evoke a stained glass effect. These are not paintings, not the kind your calloused hands remember. They are tapestries woven from the warp and weft of time, a silken cocoon of spun memories. Hundreds of meters of longing stretched beneath the ceiling, gleaming skin bearing the weight of life, embroidered with silk thread. These pieces will serve as a commentary on modern femininity, identity, and personal experiences, particularly growing up in post-communist Poland.
My artistic journey since last year has been a profound exploration of self, identity, and the transformative power of love. Marked by personal battles – numerous 45 surgeries and a life-changing near-death experience (NDE) – my art delves into the complexities of navigating femininity and self-image.
You see, time is a capricious beast, past, present, and future joined in a venture called my timeline to restore all pieces of consciousness and memories together, to make me whole, complete in a way.
